I took these pictures in Rotorua’s volcanic national parklands of Waiotapu, and was instantly transfixed within this languid, surreal landscape that Mother Nature had painted. The colours and linear nature of these photos express the surrealism that nature embodies when the textures and natural conditions between different subterraneans and water collide. I often look for this visual texture when I take photos, but this setting in particular really sparked my imagination.
When I was 10 years old, my teacher would always bring pictures of famous paintings to school. I will never forget how I felt when I saw the “Nymphéas” of Monet… love at first sight!  I think that experience is still with me when I take pictures.
